NewRuler.pp2 and TwoMeter.pp2 use the same method of measurement--basically that a Poser "trans" unit is equal to 8 feet (about 244 cm)--which makes for a nice round number--and that the male p4 figure is three-quarters of the "trans" unit high.

Here's the new ruler, and the logic behind the prop

A "trans" is the distance that the translate tools or parameter dials need to move an object one unit in Poser. A "y-trans" setting of 1.000 would put an object at 8 feet above a "y-trans" setting of 0.000

A "box" refers to the height, width and depth of the box prop, which is one-tenth of a "trans" unit high (or wide or deep).

TwoMeter.pp2 and NewRuler.pp2 are based on a bit of information from the Poser manual which states that "Poser considers one DFX unit equal to the male figure's height--about six feet." In the Poser universe, the standard form of measurements are "box" props and "trans" units. (the height of ten "box" props equal one "trans" unit.) Since the male figure is seven and a half "boxes" tall (or 0.750 "trans" units) it's easy to do the math and divide the units into their English and Metric counterparts.

Here's the breakdown:

1 "box" prop = 9.6 cubic inches = 24.4 cubic centimeters

or

1 foot = 0.125 trans units (a "box" prop scaled to 125% would be a cubic foot)
1 meter = 0.410 trans unit (a "box" prop scaled to 41% would be 10 cubic centimeters)

NewRuler.pp2 is meant to get an approximation for the height of your Poser figures. Each segment of the ruler, up to five feet, would be approximately 12 inches in the Poser universe. Segments past five feet are 2.4 inches high.

Hopefully we'll begin to see more Poser females significantly shorter than the default 175 cm.
